While people in Kerala are seeking a scientific way to end the Stray dog menace, a group of students have allegedly come forward to offer discounts on air guns for people who are facing the problem.

St Thomas College Old Students Association in Pala have been putting up posters, announcing that they would be giving a 10 % discount on air guns for those facing problems with stray dogs and 25% discount for those who have legal cases in this regard.

The association has presented its first gun to Jose Maveli, a social activist running a shelter home for street children in Ernakulam, but also heads a Stray Dog Eradication Group.  He was arrested last month for allegedly killing 24 dogs.

Maveli who is currently out on bail, has denied all allegations, claiming that he is not a killer and maintains that he simply gave people the numbers of various dog catchers, when they came to him for help.

Contrary to his claims, animal rights activists said that  Maveli has been instrumental in killing dog, even encouraging children to eradicate stray dogs.
