The ruling Congress party in Karnataka allegedly had a cartoon hoarding featuring Rahul Ghandi removed calling it offensive.

Noted cartoonist Satish Acharya has a hoarding fixed in Kundapura named Cartoon Corner, where he displays some of his best works.

He recently displayed a cartoon that showed a petrified Rahul Gandhi crouched behind Karnataka’s chief minister Siddaramaiah attempting to hide from Narendra Modi. The cartoon has now been removed by the municipality of Kundapura

“I draw cartoons on all political parties. I use cartoon corner hoarding to display some of them. In the past nobody troubled me. After I had put this cartoon up, a local Congress leader called me up to suggest that I should remove it as it is offensive,” said Acharya to News 18.

“The very next day, Kundapura municipality removed it on the pretext of clearing the city of billboards. The Congress should be worried about the challenges before the party. It should not be afraid of a harmless cartoon,” he added.

Karnataka’s Congress president Dr G Parameshwara denied the allegations and said that Congress had nothing to do with the incident.

The Kundapura municipality said it removed all hoardings and billboards to make the town appear better.
