Malayalam producer commits suicide after watching his film’s preview

Debutant Malayalam film producer Ajay Krishnan committed suicide at his residence in Thirumullavaram, Kollam, on Saturday. 

He was reportedly dejected over how his debut film as a producer Avarude Ravukal had shaped up.

According to a report in The New Indian Express, Krishnan committed suicide after watching a preview of his upcoming film.

An anonymous police source said, “He was concerned over the success of the film at the box office. He had also shared his concern with his parents. It seems that the film cost him Rs 4 crore and he was facing financial crisis. This might have forced him to take the extreme step.”

Avarude Ravukal features star actors including Asif Ali, Unni Mukundan, Aju Varghese, Vinay Fort, Honey Rose and Lena.

Shanil Muhammad, who co-directed Philips and the Monkey Pen, wrote and directed Avarude Ravukal.

Ajay Krishnan had earlier essayed many small roles in TV serials and films as well.
