Evan was born a woman. He came out as a transgender when he turned 19 and it did not discourage him from wanting to have a baby.

Earlier this year, this 35-year-old transgender man gave birth to his first child.

When Evan first visited an LGBT health centre in Boston, according to international magazine TIME, it was the first time his doctor had seen a prospective birth father.

After coming out as a transgender at the 19 he underwent hormone treatment. However, he chose to retain his ‘female’ reproductive organs, including his breasts, so that he could conceive in future. Three years ago, he and his female partner decided to have a baby carried by the latter. Reportedly, Evan stopped taking his testosterone shots, and his doctor attempted fertilizing him through artificial insemination. Last spring, Evan finally gave birth to a baby boy.   Pregnancy, even when intended, can be a difficult time for many trans men. “It was a gamble. I didn’t know how I’d feel,” said Evan. “But it turns out I just feel like it’s really cool that my body can do this.”

Even as he turned fortunate to carry a baby, his perception about his individuality was did not get affected. He considers himself to be man despite having carried a baby in his body.

“People who are not trans talk about being ‘trapped in a body,’” replied Evan. “But that’s not really the way my friends talk about it. I was always Evan. I always had these parts. I always just felt like me, and like I was a guy.”
