Microsoft is determined to make it’s Edge browser that comes with Windows 10 the most preferred one. The company will now pay users for using the browser.

Microsoft has claimed that Edge delivers 36-53 % more battery life compared to other browsers and now has announced reward system to get users to switch.

As far as it is known the rewards are only available for users in the US. The company awards points for using Edge with Bing web search engine and shopping at the Microsoft store. These points can be traded for vouches or credit to places like Amazon, Starbucks, Skype and the ad-free version of Outlook.com.

Microsoft will actively monitor if users are using the Edge browser for as many as 30 hours per month,  the user gains points for with each hour of usage.  The program will track user’s actions such as mouse movements to ensure there is no cheating. However, it is not specified as to  how many points each hour of usage will fetch.

Microsoft once ruled the browser game with Internet Explorer, before Mozilla’s Firefox and Google’s Chrome came into existence. Looks like the OS makers are looking to regain their lost glory.

There is no news on if and when the Microsoft Rewards will be made available in India.
