Why is Malayalam movie industry silent on the attack on Mohanlal?

Nobody from Malayalam movie industry has really bothered to reflect on superstar Mohanlal’s recent discourse on patriotism and JNU fiasco, apart from few voices like director Vinayan.

So being it, one of the major voices that has gone missing in this context is none other than director Ashiq Abu. There is a reason why his comments on Mohanlal’s blog post are so conspicuous.

Ashiq Abu has been vociferous in social media on almost all issues including the drama that unfurled in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus in Delhi during the last two weeks.

It is true that he has been on the run for promotional events of his recent release ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’, which has become quite a huge flick in the box office. Even then he was seen sharing posts backing the JNU all this while, flaunting his supposedly inherent Left leaning outlooks.

While it could be justified that Ashiq shied away from making comments on the blog post over professional reason, it could be also his precaution to not bring unnecessary attention which would ruin the prospects his recent release. Mohanlal-fans have already unleashed scathing troll attacks on people who have criticised the actor’s blog post.

On close heels with Ashiq Abu, it is learned that director Ranjith Shanker (he directed the movie passenger) was slated to delete his comment in Facebook against the blog post, after failed to bear the overwhelming ‘love’ of Mohanlal-fans and admirers.
