Prime Minister Narendra Modi will now join the elite ranks of global leaders and famous personalities in Madame Tussauds in London, Hong Kong and Bangkok in April.

“Madame Tussauds has crafted figures of very distinguished dignitaries from around the world – how could I regard myself worthy of being alongside them? But when I was informed that your decision had emanated from public opinion and public sentiment, I was comforted,” PM said in statement

Modi had given a sitting to the expert artists from the Museum.

“During my sitting, I observed the team carefully and was deeply impressed by their dedication, professionalism and skill. I have visited Madame Tussauds three or four times and had the pleasure of getting myself photographed standing next to the figures of various dignitaries,” Modi added.

Modi’s  statue will be dressed up in his signature Kurta and will be featured making a ‘Namaste’ gesture.

“Prime Minister Modi is a hugely important figure in world politics, a position supported by his ranking amongst the Top 10, in Time Magazines’ Person of the Year List of 2015,” museum spokesperson Kieran Lancini was quoted by news agencies.

Prime minister’s overwhelming media presence, especially his fan- following on Twitter,  which is the second biggest after President Obama, has prompted the museum authorities to go ahead with the project.

“Guests will be able to stand shoulder to shoulder and measure up to one of the most powerful men in the world and even grab a selfie when the figures arrive in their locations,” the museum spokesperson was quoted saying.
