While the whole country is celebrating the medal winners at the Rio Olympics 2016, some of our other athletes who participated in the biggest sports event are not even given decent transport facility.

Four Hokey stars from Odisha, who represented Team India in Olympics, were made to sit on the floor of the train from Ranchi to Rourkela because their tickets were unconfirmed.

What can only be called as a disgraceful incident, Deep Grace Ekka, Namita Toppo, Lilima Minz and Sunita Lakra, in spite of being Railway employees were made to sit on the floor of the bogey as their tickets were unconfirmed.

“We asked the TTE to allot berths to us but he denied. After travelling for about an hour, we got seats,” Sunita Lakra said on Sunday.

TTE failed to arrange seats for them even though Railway employees don’t need to buy train tickets.

Sundargarh sub-collector Himanshu Sekhar Behera, unhappy with the way these athletes were treated said “We will draw the attention of the railways about the incident. They should have been provided seats. It is the responsibility of the department to take care of them.”
