Doordarshan launched free TV services for mobile phones in 16 cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati, Patna, Ranchi, Cuttack, Lucknow, Jalandhar, Raipur, Indore, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. The mobile TV service, which is operational since 25 February, can be accessed through the DVB-T2 dongles in OTG enabled smartphones and tablets.

Currently, users can freely access DD National, DD News, DD Bharati, DD Sports, DD Regional/DD Kisan. Apart from the DD channels, they can also access other Web TV and radio stations through the dongle, which is basically a one-time investment. Users are required to download a software for the dongle, after which they can use the mobile TV without an internet connection.

Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) secures greater plurality in platform ownership, ensuring that no single platform owner is so powerful that they can exert undue influence on public opinion or political agendas said PTI in a statement.
