Malayalam film director Aashiq Abu has for long been vociferous regarding the issue of piracy which has been plaguing the Malayalam film industry.

However, the director recently encountered a rather honest viewer who outrightly confessed to him that he had ‘accidentally’ watched his recent flick Maheshinte Prathikaram through illicit means.

The Malayali, who claimed to be living in Canada, said that he could not resist watching it as he had found a series of clips of the film on the internet.

“Brother, please pardon me. I accidentally watched Maheshinte Prathikaram on Facebook. It’s as a hungry person is offered a feast. Here, in Canada, one cannot watch a Malayalam film legitimately. That’s why I went on and watched it,” said the regretful fan named Jerry.

The person had sent a private message to Aashiq Abu, but director posted the message on the page to appreciate Jerry’s honesty.

“Had it been stupid film, I would not have sent this message. Maheshinte Prathikaram is one of the best films I have ever watched. Hence, I have decided to transfer the cost of watching the film to you,” he said in the message.

He even requested the director for his bank account details so that he could remit the amount.

“When I watched the film Leela online, I had paid $20. So if you please give me your bank account no, IFSC code and branch no, I will send you the money. If you have any other way to pay you, that is more than welcome,” he said.
