Jazz maestro Louis Banks and son Gino Banks are going to rock the stage together for the very first time! Louis Banks known as the Godfather of Indian Jazz is all set to perform with his son and other well- known artists at Nimhans, Bengaluru, on October 24 (Saturday) in a concert that promises to be unforgettable.

Louis Banks, who is film composer, singer and jazz keyboardist all in one, is India’s greatest Jazz artist. He was nominated for Grammys in the year 2008 for his album Miles from India and is also known for composing the tune for Mile Sue Mera Tumhara, a patriotic song aired on Doordarshan.

The artist has collaborated with the who and who of the jazz world and is a legend in his own right. His coming together with his son for a performance, that will see a combination of Western and Eastern music, comes as a pleasant surprise.

The duo will be accompanied by other artists who are equally established in their genre of music or instruments. Here is the awe striking list that will push you to make a grab at your tickets.

Keith Peters

Yup you heard that right! A.R.Rahman’s right hand man will be performing too. The prodigal bass guitarist, who gave music to superhit Rehman albums like Kadal desam, Alaipayuthe and Kannathhil Mutthamilttal will be there to add rythm to the event.

Bhargava Halambi

Known for his Kanjira magic in the Carnatic Music circles, he has played his instrument as accompaniment to the voices of the legends of Carnatic Music, including Madurai Mani Iyer. This sure promises to be an interesting combination with Jazz.

Balabhaskar

Nephew to the great violinist B. Sasikumar, Balabhaskar is known for promoting fusion music in India. A violinist and composer himself, no wonder Balabhaskar will be seen in one of the biggest fusion music concerts in the world.

Giridhar Udupa

Popularly known as Ghatam Giridhar Udupa, Giridhar has also served the who and who of the Carnatic cosmos and plays the Ghatam, Mridangam and Kanjira. Having entered the musical world at age 4, this concert might prove to be the pinnacle of the artist’s range.

Pramath Kiran

A musician and percussionist, Pramath too sees his niche in the blend of Western and traditional music. Having performed for many festivals, all around India, the artist will be joining the Banks’ bandwagon this time.
