Puberty is always a difficult time in everyone’s life. All of us have gone through that phase. But puberty is actually spelling a new kind of trouble for one infant in Delhi.

According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, a one-year-old baby boy from Delhi named Akash, has already hit puberty. He reportedly has developed facial, body and pubic hair as a result.

According to medical science, Akash is affected by a rare symptom called ‘precocious puberty’ – an extremely rare hormonal condition which leads to the rapid increase in the testosterone levels.

Though the exact reason for this condition is unclear, it has primarily been traced back to developmental deficits in the hypothalamus or the pituitary glands.

Akash’s parent first noticed an abnormal growth rate of his genitals. By the time he turned one-year old, his parents consulted a paediatrician who identified the rare condition. Akash’s doctor Vaishakhi Rustagi explained that ‘precocious puberty’ can be traumatic for a child of his age.

Possible aftermath of this condition would range from symptoms of violence due to increased strength to stopping of body growth prematurely.
