Hackers from Pakistan are said to have broken into the servers of around 50 Hyderabad based IT company in response to the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army in PoK.

According to reports, there has been a sharp rise in the number of cyber breaches in both countries after the military operations by Indian special forces.

The hackers are reported using ‘ransomware’ to steal confidential information and to hold it hostage, only to be released in exchange of bitcoins.

Taking cognizance of the matter Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) have launched an investigation. Recently, Pakistani hackers claimed to have breached 7,000 Indian websites including government web holdings.

The surge in website hacking is dubbed as ‘revenge’ for the surgical strikes. Cyber experts claim that the perpetrators who attempt to breach cyber securities are not learned enough to compromise websites. However, they  maintain that threat on the cyber security of the nation cannot be ignored.

Meanwhile, Indian hackers too have responded to the attacks by carrying out their own ransomware attacks on almost 100 Pakistani websites and servers.

According to a report in Daily Mail, the hackers did not return the hacked websites’ decryption keys to the website holders even after being paid the ransom in bitcoins.

Cyber terror strikes can prove to be dangerous for India as strategic breaches can give away sensitive, highly confidential information about India’s security.
