Why such apathy? Who would probably have the heart to serve food on a hospital floor to a poor woman?
It comes to one’s utter shock to learn that food was served to an in-patient on the floor by the staff of a reputed government hospital in Jharkhand.
Wouldn’t such irresponsible imbeciles be flogged under the Sun for having mocked at the tax payer in such a abhorrent manner? Are government hospitals supposed to be the altar of unconditional medical service to ailing common people?
This awful experience happened to Palmati Dev who had reached the Ranchi’s top government hospital – Ranchi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIM).
The Hindi daily – Dainik Bhaskar carried the photograph of Palmati Dev who is seen having food from the bare hospital floor.
On Wednesday Palmati had reached the hospital for receiving treatment for her fractured hand. The canteen staff in the hospital reportedly informed the lady that they did not have plates to serve food to her.
After failing to grab a plate, she was asked to clean-up the floor so that she could be served there. According to the newspaper, she was then served rice, dal and vegetables on the hospital floor.
After the photograph did viral rounds in the internet on Thursday, the hospital authorities has initiated an investigation into the matter.
“Patients are given food on plates. We have ordered an inquiry and will take strict action against those who served her food on the floor,” Director of RIMS, BL Sherwal was quoted by India Today.
