Prime Minster Narendra Modi halted his speech midway at an election rally in West Bengal as a sign of respect after he heard the azaan (call for worship) from a nearby mosque.  He resumed the speech only after the prayer had ended.

“Azan was going on . . . because of us, one’s prayers shouldn’t get interrupted. So I decided to take a brief rest,” said Modi.

“This is our heritage. We should pay respect to all religions and respect their rituals and customs. We should be respectful so that the unity of India is maintained,” he added.

PM Modi continued to criticize Trinamool Congress and the communists in his speech at the poll rally at BNR Ground, Kharagpur in West Midnapore district.

“Congress and Communists have challenged the wisdom of Bengal and Bengal can not forgive people who challenge wisdom of Bengal,” said Modi.
He also urged the people to support BJP in the upcoming assembly elections keeping Bengal’s best interests in mind.
