The children of famous stars following them into films is not new in the Indian industry. But when the star kid in question is Pranav, son of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal it certainly grabs attention and makes headlines.
No wonder then there’s been such a buzz about Mohanlal putting out a photo of himself and son Pranav on social media. It’s got fans and industry-watchers speculating if Pranav is going to be making his big screen debut anytime soon. Also, just after New Years’ Mohanlal had made public a video of himself with Pranav playing the guitar in the background.

Pranav, 25, has appeared in the 2002 film Punarjani as a child artiste. He also had a brief cameo in dad Mohanlal’s film Sagar alias Jacky. But while there has been a lot of interest on whether and when he’ll be launched as a hero, Pranav has denied that he has any such ambition.
He has, in fact, been behind the camera, assisting Jeethu Joseph on Drishyam. Mohanlal, too, has said that Pranav has dreams other than becoming an actor.
Pranav hasn’t also escaped comparisons with Malayalam cinema’s other famous star kid, Dulquer Salman. The two are friends. We’ll have to wait and see whether Mohanlal’s son takes the same route that Mammootty’s son did.
