The 33-year-old actor plays the lead role of Alex Parrish, an FBI agent suspected of turning into a terrorist on the show.

Priyanka tweeted: “I am so fortunate! Thank U to everyone who voted for me at the #PCAs! My #PCManiacs-I am nothing without you! Big love.”

In her acceptance speech she said: “It’s my first year in America. And to come to another country, and actually to get this kind of acceptance, I guess what America is all about. Thank you all for accepting me. My mom, my manager, cast and crew, writers, ABC, everyone, I’m just really overwhelmed, ”

Priyanka was every inch the breakthrough star wearing a glittering dress designed by Vera Wang and competing against actors like Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michele and Marcia Gay Harden.

Before the awards, the actress who has lived in America as a teenager for three years, was nervous about her competing on the world stage, as she tweeted: “LA LA land bound! @peopleschoice tomorrow! Strange that I have nerves! 1st nomination in another country I guess! Wish me luck!! @QuanticoTV.”

Quantico was the first time an Indian actor was cast as the lead of a cable TV show with a big network like ABC which is Walt Disney owned. With this win, Priyanka becomes the first Indian actor to register a win at the People’s Choice Awards. And to think that this was the actor’s first Hollywood project makes this success even more remarkable! Priyanka has already bagged the National award and the Filmfare award many times in India and this win adds to her expanding trophy list.

The People’s Choice Awards were started in 1975 and are the only award where fans get to cast their vote directly for their favourite stars and shows through an online poll. The other big winners at the awards were The Big Bang Theory which won Favorite TV Show and won Favorite Network TV Comedy for the fourth consecutive year. Its star Jim Parsons bagged Favorite Comedic TV Actor. Melissa McCarthy won for Favourite Comedic TV Actress. On the dramatic front, Grey’s Anatomy a ShondaLand show won Favorite Network TV Drama, with leading lady Ellen Pompeo clinching the Favorite Dramatic TV Actress award.
