Coming clean about one’s sexual orientation – especially in the case of a homosexual – is one hell of a ballsy business. Such daring,  in the world of puritans and other religious conservatives, will make the confessor fall victim to eternal disdain and ostracism.

Now it is a member of the English Royal kin who has come out in public about being gay.

Lord Ivar Mountbatten, has become the first person from the Royal Family to come clean about sexual orientation.

Lord Mountbatten is a father to three children with ex-wife Penelope (Penny) Thompson.

In an official statement, he said that he has struggled with his sexuality all along.

According to reports, Lord Mountbatten is now seeing James Coyle, an airline cabin services director and they both met while skiing in Switzerland.

In an interview to the Mail, Lord Mountbatten said:

“Penny was aware before we got married, I told her I was bisexual, that my attraction went both ways. She understood and I will always be grateful to her.”

”Coming out” is such a funny phrase but it’s what I suppose I did in a rather roundabout way, emerging to a place I’m happy to be. I have struggled with my sexuality and in some ways I still do; it has been a real journey to reach this point.’ he added.

He’s quite happy the way he and others have come to the terms of acceptance.
