Rahul Gandhi booed by crowd at boxer Vijender’s bout venue

Scion of the Gandhi family and the vice president of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Rahul Gandhi was booed by the crowd at the Thyagaraj stadium where he had come to watch Vijender Singh’s WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight Championship title bout on Saturday.

As soon as Mr. Gandhi entered the stadium sporting his iconic grey t-shirts and denim pants, a section of the crowd started chanting ‘Modi, Modi’, referring to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He was neither spared when he walked out of the stadium following match between Vijender and Australian boxer Kerry Hopes. He watched the match along with IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla.

Reportedly, he didn’t react to the boos of the crowd and simply smiled back before leaving the stadium.

The event was attended by many influential personalities like including boxer M C Mary Kom, star wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, cricketers Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina, actor Randeep Hooda.
