Ranbir & Katrina finally engaged for real: Here’s a look back at their love story

A couple of months ago, the reports of Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s engagement took Bollywood by storm. However, it was soon revealed that those reports were nothing more than a rumour.

But the latest reports suggest that the engagement has finally happened for real. Ranbir Kapoor confessed his love for Katrina and proposed to her during her birthday bash, the reports suggest.

This is certainly the dream happy ending to the romance. The two never confirmed that they were dating, and have been plagued by rumours and gossip for the last 4 years.

Gossip was also doing the rounds that Ranbir’s ex-flame Deepika Padukone as well as his own family were far from happy with Ranbir’s choice. But everything looks merry around the table now, as the duo is all set to take the next step with everybody’s blessings, most conspicuously those of the prospective groom’s father, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor.

In an interview earlier this year, the 33 year old’s dad had confirmed Ranbir’s live-in relationship status.  He also said that he respects his son’s decisions and wouldn’t interfere.  And now, on the heels of that statement, comes Ranbir’s announcement of impending nuptials.

Things look like they’re happening pretty quickly, aren’t they?

Here are the events that brought two of the most sought after Bollywood actors together on the path to love and matrimony:

July 2008 – Deepika introduces Ranbir to Katrina at the latter’s birthday bash.

0ctober 2009 – Katrina Kaif is Salman’s girlfriend and Ranbir is smitten by the gorgeous Deepika Padukone. Ranbir and Kat come together to work on ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani’.

Early 2010 – Ranbir and Katrina are rumoured to have come together. Deepika and Ranbir split, and later in the year, Ranbir confesses to have cheated in the relationship.The year also sees the release of the new couple’s movie ‘Rajneeti’.

Feb 2011 – Salman and Katrina split for reasons unknown. Ranbir and Katrina meet at Karan Johar’s birthday bash and spend the night together at Ranbir’s place.

March 2011 – Rumours of Nargis Fakhri splitting the couple spring up.

Early 2012 – Kat and Ranbir celebrate the New Year in New York.

June 2013 – Kat dines with the Kapoor khandan. Both families approve of the relationship.

July 2013 – Kat and Ranbir are photographed in a private moment on a beach in Ibiza, Spain. The couple go under cover again for a few months after this.

June 2014 – The actors move in together into a plush apartment in Bandra.

December 2014 – They get engagement in London; the ‘Boom’ actress is seen sporting a solitaire.

May 2015 – Rumours regarding the couple’s engagement take Bollywood by storm.

July 2015 – It becomes official. Ranbir finally proposes to Katrina during the latter’s birthday bash.

Both actors have carved their paths in the film industry and look forward to a great future together.
