Ranjan S. from Poorna Prajna school, Bhadravati, scored a 100% in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations, thereby topping the list with 625 out of 625.

What was his secret to success?

“I planned my study schedule like cricket players do before going in for a match,” said Ranjan to The Hindu.

Ranjan hadn’t expected to score 100% and the result came to him as a pleasant surprise. “I was taking a nap after discussing with my friends about Monday’s IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore when my teacher rang me up and informed me about the result,” he told The Hindu.

The SSLC pass percentage has reportedly declined over last year. The overall pass percentage this year is 79.16% compared to 81% from the previous year. Bangalore rural stands first with 89.63%, followed by Udupi with 89.52% and Mangalore with 88.01%. Girls have managed to beat the boys once again occupying the most number of spots in toppers’ list.
