Review Central: Dum Laga Ke Haisha – The best from YRF in recent times

Dum Laga Ke Haisha is unusual by the standards of Yash Raj Films. It’s shorn of the usual gloss and is a close-to-reality love story with a difference. What’s more, its leading lady, Bhumi Pednekar is nothing like the Sridevis and Madhuri Dixits who sang and danced in scenic locales, chiffon sarees fluttering in the wind. And she’s certainly a far cry from Katrina Kaif. Still, it’s the plus-sized Bhumi, with the girl-next-door looks, who gives this film its heart.

Here’s what the early reviews are saying:

There is incredible detailing of characters and it is enough to find an instant connect. Dum Laga Ke Haisha could be a mirror for quite a lot  of people who have first-hand experience of such situations.

Our verdict:

Tired of make-believe fantasies and stars who look too good to be true? Watch Dum Laga Ke Haisha, the story of a nervous, withdrawn man, played by Ayushman Khurrana, and his young wife who is bigger and smarter than he is. We think it’s one of the best and most unlikely love stories to emerge from Bollywood in recent times.
