Margarita With A Straw, the story of a young woman who’s passionate about love and life, despite being afflicted by cerebral palsy, has wowed the critics, without exception. It has been declared an acting triumph for Kalki Koechlin, the film’s protagonist, with first-time director Shonali Bose and the seasoned Revathy, who plays Kalki’s mother, also earning accolades. The film has been lauded also for its path-breaking handling of the differently-abled, so often reduced to sympathy-evoking stereotypes in Indian cinema. Here’s what the critics have been saying:

Our take:

Fan of sensitive cinema and unconventional story-telling? Margarita With A Straw promises to make you both laugh and cry as you explore life with a woman confined to a wheelchair who doesn’t let that get in the way of her passion for life.
