Review Central: NH10 – a taut, tense and gripping movie

One character tells the lead protagonist, “Madam, where your Gurgaon border ends, you will find a land of no law and order”. NH10 is a film about what happens to a couple living in a high-rise building of a posh city try to touch the life of a lawless land in the outskirts, where the caste system, sexual harassment and honour killing are rampant.

Director Navdeep Singh’s is back with a taut, tense and dreadful story, in which Anushka Sharma, also debuting as producer, has given a stunning performance as a fearful wife turning to be a fearsome female power. Watch the trailer to get a glimpse of what the movie is all about:

Here is what the early reviews are saying:

Shubhra Gupta, indianexpress.com, @shubhragupta

When young, attractive, urban professional Meera (Anushka Sharma) urges her husband (Neil Bhoopalam) to run away from the men who are terrorising them, she is doing what instinctively comes to most of us. When she turns around to face the enemy, we want to cheer.

Kaushik L M, behindwoods.com, @Lmkmoviemaniac

Anushka is initially the typical ‘scared to death’ wife who is dependent on her husband to protect her. But grave circumstances bring out the Goddess Kali in her and she takes on her enemies with courage.

Saibal Chatterjee, movies.ndtv.com, @saibalchatter

Director Navdeep Singh employs deftly minimalist and consistently effective touches to create a crackling, tension-filled on-screen atmosphere that could shake the toughest of souls out of their complacent stupor.

Our verdict:

NH10 is a dangerous adventure film that breaks the conventions in telling the story, and comes out as a winner. Get yourself ready for a thriller that won’t let you blink till the end.
