Review Central: Papanasam- As fabulous as the original and Kamal in brilliant form

Remakes are tricky things. Especially when the original, Drishyam in Malayalam, was such a staggeringly good production.  But its Tamil version, Papanasam, has floored the critics and they can’t stop raving about Kamal’s brilliance in the role of an ordinary man who does extraordinary things when his little family comes under threat.

Our take: Go watch it, even if you’ve seen the original and some of the thrills of this edge-of-the-seat film are diluted. And if you haven’t seen Drishyam then you simply can’t afford to miss Papanasam.
