Saina Nehwal went through a knee surgery and India wishes her well
While everyone is celebrating P V Sindhu’s historic silver medal at the Olympics, Saina Nehwal just underwent a knee surgery.
Saina who who played two matches at the Rio Olympics had been struggling with a knee problem throughout. The London Olympics bronze medalist had to even get a painkiller injection just to just to get through her second group match against Ukraine’s Marija Ulitina.
Saina was admitted to hospital where she had a surgery on Saturday morning.
“There was a pain in my knee, so I wasn’t able to play well. It was fat pad inflammation in the right knee. I’ve got a heavy strapping on my knee, and my movement was not good I tried, but I wasn’t able to do it,” she said after the surgery.
Saina sustained the injury during the training before Rio and she was not able to recover before the Olympics. “It happened just before the Olympic Games. I tried my best, but movements were not smooth. My movement was painful from the start of the Olympics. She played well no doubt, but I couldn’t move at all,” she told the press after the second game.
Saina took to twitter to let her fans know about her surgery.
