Scientist says ‘Aliens look like us’. But here’s how we imagine them to be

Giving our never-ceasing curiosity about aliens an impetus, noted biologist Simon Conway Morris has claimed that if there were intelligent life on other planets, it would look like us!

An earth-like planet should also house flora and fauna like we have sharks, mangroves and mushrooms here. Wow! That’s pretty cool! We are as flabbergasted as the little Gertie upon her first chance meet with the E.T!

Morris’ avowal challenges the common belief that aliens, more often than not, have a face that only a mother could love. We have always imagined them with a mien that is quite out-of-the-planet. Maybe, Morris’ announcement would spur a Steven Spielberg to rethink his extraterrestrial friend next time before he introduces him to us.

Maybe one with a little more hair on a resized head, slightly smaller eyes and fingers and noticeable ears would look more like one of us. Nevertheless, their outlandish look is what has been catching our fancy for long.

From roaches and flesh eating plants to three-legged machines and an almost naked Aamir Khan—we have imagined aliens in myriad forms. Here is how:

The eccentric ones:

The giant roach, Men in Black

Roaches have always been creepy, but the ginormous roach in Men in Black was creepier. This bug is a disgrace for the alien clan!

Crites, Critters

All things fluffy are not soft. Crites were a spin on hedgehogs. But they were toxic and had a never-ending appetite for human flesh.

Forget who they are, how they arrive will leave you benumbed! Watch out for the 500 km wide alien mothership!

Tripods, War of the Worlds

The lanky Tripods are actually machines driven by foreign creatures.

Flower shop assistant Seymour’s flesh eating plant, that got him all the attention, was actually an alien.

Predator, Predator

With mouth engulfed by pincers to rip apart its food, this creature is a deadly hunter, well armed with futuristic artillery. It even gave a tough time to the Terminator-fame Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Yoda, Star Wars

He might have syntactic flaws and might not be a find for our eyes, but this Jedi master is superb at one thing. He can give you the pep-talk to get you going.

Chestburster, Alien

H R Giger gave us some of the most bizarre extra-terrestrials. This is one of them. After gestating in a human chest, it once burst out of its nest and this is how!

The sweet ones:

MAC, MAC and Me

He won our hearts, the moment he saved wheelchair-bound Eric’s life, when he was drowning.

E.T., E.T. the Extra- Terrestrial

He could be voted the world’s sweetest alien on earth unanimously, though he was nothing sweet in appearance.

Jadoo, Koi… Mil Gaya

Jadoo floored us, when he used his special powers derived from sunrays, to help his mentally challenged friend Rohit. Kudos!

The human-esque ones:

Jeff Bridges was stunning as the Starman. This man used his silver spheres to help earthlings. How generous and humane!

PK, PK

But PK surely is the smartie who not just proves that extra-terrestrials are smarter than us but also teaches us some indispensable lessons of life.

Looks like the trajectory is nearing Morris’ claims. The latest alien depiction looks more like us than his ancestors did!

PS: You won’t believe Yoda and E.T’s facial features were partly based on Albert Einstein’s!
