Sea otters hold hands while sleeping: the cutest thing you’ll ever see!

Sea otters, the smallest of the marine animals, are native to the northern and eastern North Pacific Ocean. They spend most of their time in the water, eating, sleeping, and sometimes even having their pups there. Among other interesting behavioral traits, otters are known to hold hands in groups, creating what is called a ‘raft’ while they eat, sleep or rest. This is to prevent families from drifting apart and losing each other. Isn’t that absolutely cute?

There’s more to the cuteness quotient: a mommy sea otter cradles her pup on her chest, creating something like a crib for the little one. She carries the infant otter until it’s two months old! Now, doesn’t she deserve an award for that?

A video that every animal lover should watch!

Sea otters make interesting subjects for observation. They are cleanliness freaks, and love spending time grooming themselves. They are also great food lovers!

Just leaving you with a thought: Can we humans learn to live like a family of otters, holding hands never to let go?
