News of an Indian adaptation of the popular television show, Game of Thrones, has been taking Indian social media by storm for the past few days.

And now, the excitement levels are set to skyrocket — Sean Bean has just confirmed he will feature in the Sony TV version, called Rani Mahal.

The English actor, who portrayed Lord Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark in the original HBO series Game of Thrones, will now essay the corresponding character in the Hindi version.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for me,” Bean said.

“More so because I just had a word with the script writers, and they said I will not die at least till the end of Season 4.

“This allows me to showcase to the Indian people, and indeed, the folks over at Hollywood and in England, that I have a good acting range,” he said.

“There’s really no need to kill me off in every show and film, you know,” Bean added with a wink and a smile.

A high-level executive at Sony Entertainment Television, on the condition of anonymity, said everyone was “extremely pleased” to get the Hollywood and British star on board.

“I’ve heard Bean Sir is taking Hindi lessons as we speak. He will speak Hindi dialogues while filming. However, we are yet to decide whether his voice will be dubbed in the final edit,” the executive said.
