She stole Obama’s thunder. Wing Commander Pooja Thakur who led the Guard of Honour saluted
US President Barack Obama finally arrives in India. However, not him but Wing Commander Pooja Thakur, who led the Guard of Honour inspection at Rashtrapati Bhavan, emerged as the nation’s shining star.
In a first, Thakur’s proud moment came just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Beti Bachao campagin’. This move, also seen as Modi’s masterstroke, assumes significance as the theme for this year’s Republic Day Parade where Obama is the chief guest is – ‘nari shakti’ or women power.
Wing Commander Pooja Thakur’s feat went viral on Twitter as soon as the Guard of Honour came to an end. Here’s a look at some of the tweets.
