Shobhaa De’s Rio taunt in twitter goes horrifically wrong, backfires
It is true that Team India’s hunt for the first Olympic medal has entered the third day since the mega athletic event kicked-off in Rio De Jeneiro. Though Jitu Rai, Abhinav Bindra and women’s archery team failed to start-off the hunt for medal, it does not mean that one can belittle a team that has always endured and brought back stunning rewards.
Shobhaa De made a very untimely and unfortunate comment on Indian contingent in Rio for it has so far not made much. Despair on that fact is understandable, but it looks like De’s has got some real talent in understatement!
Goal of Team India at the Olympics: Rio jao. Selfies lo. Khaali haat wapas aao. What a waste of money and opportunity.

@DeShobhaa that’s a tad unfair. You should be proud of your athletes perusing human excellence against the whole world.

@Abhinav_Bindra And do so despite of and in spite of there being no infra & institutional support, and no sporting culture @DeShobhaa

@DeShobhaa maybe things will change when the attitude of people like urself change!!!!?? #Proudindian #proudsportsperson

Goal of @DeShobhaa : Porn books likho. Twitter pe bakwas pelo. Faltu oxygen ko carbondioxide main badlo. Wht a waste of space and human life

Not even worth a selfie. If scaring babies was Olympic sport, @DeShobhaa would strike gold! https://t.co/NLNEOtR6Jh pic.twitter.com/7KjQQGAipl

@DeShobhaa a little harsh to belittle the hard work put in by our athletes …don’t you think ?

The writer’s flaw in the argument was well exposed by former Indian Hockey team captain, Viren Resquinha:
Ms. De, kindly run on the hockey pitch for 60 mins & hold a rifle like Abhinav and Gagan. Bit tougher than u think https://t.co/XwZFKqZJjn

Ms. De, the team has got people like Dipa Karmakar from Tripura. If you don’t know what that really mean, you should probably read upon her and her achievements!
