Social media seems to have been irked by Oommen Chandy’s prudent tactics to remain in the helm of affairs of Kerala even after prime accused in ‘Solar Scam’ – Saritha came out against him with serious allegations of corruption.

A certain section of Kerala netizens have found it right to observe February 3 as ‘Kari Dinam’ (Black Day) on social media platforms in a bid to voice protest against Chandy’s supposedly obstinate wish to remain in power.

The state government has been facing difficult times ever since the surfacing of multi crore ‘Solar Scam’ in 2013.

Netizens have called for resignation of CM through hashtags #kickoutommenchandy and #Feb3BlackDay.

“Oommen Chandy, please do not think that people of Kerala are fools. Stop the administration of affairs by challenging the people,” said a post.

Apart from allegations against Chandy which are raised by Saritha, his efforts to cover up his associates in the state cabinets recently in connection with the Bar scam were also severely flayed in public spheres.

Though state excise minister K Babu submitted his resignation January 23 following a vigilance court directive to file case against him, CM did not handover his papers to governor P Sathasivam.

However, CM turned out to be very farsighted when Babu finally returned to his office on February 1 after high court of Kerala stayed the vigilance court directive.

Graft allegations against home minister Ramesh Chennithala and minister for cultural affairs K C Joseph on similar lines have added fuel to fire.
