Tamannaah Bhatia, one of the South’s top-rated stars, is busy with various projects, including the Kollywood film Dharma Durai and the sequel to the blockbuster Baahubali. She was also at her glamorous best at the IIFA Utsav in Hyderabad. But these starry occupations don’t stop her from adopting and supporting good causes and she’s been showing off her philanthropic side in recent times.
Last week, the actress was announced as brand ambassador of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, an initiative of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI). The national initiative is aimed at securing the welfare and education of girl children, especially in the rural areas.

Tamannaah flew to Agra where the official announcement was made and participated in a meet-and-greet event. She later said, “I’m glad that I can contribute to the national initiative of #betibachaobetipadhao by being FOGSI’s brand ambassador. Girl education is a serious issue in our country and it needs the maximum awareness possible. Being a girl I feel proud that I got this chance to contribute in encouraging woman empowerment and fight against the injustice prevailing towards them.”
Later, back in Hyderabad, Tamannaah was at the Hyderabad Golf Club to formally launch the Cancer Crusaders Invitation Cup Golf Championship. Demure in an ethnic outfit, she wielded the club while the cameras clicked away. This fund-raiser event is for the benefit of children being cared for by the Cure Foundation of Apollo Hospitals. Tamannaah won hearts when she told the gathering, “I assure you all that I will be always a phone call away to be associated with this sort of gestures,” adding, “We all have a social responsibility to care for those battling against adversity despite being so young.”
Earlier Tamannah has been brand ambassador of PETA’s campaign ‘Be a Bunny’s Honey: Buy Cruelty-Free Cosmetics’.
