Supreme Court declined to protect Dadlani against arrest

The supreme court on Wednesday, declined music composer Vishal Dadlani’s appeal to quash the FIR lodged against him for allegedly making sketchy remarks on Jain monk Tarun Sagar and asked him to go to high court.

The bench also denied to grant him protection against arrest, until the plea is moved to high court.

An FIR was filed on Dadlani for his sarcastic remark on the Jain monk.The complaint was filed Punit Arora, a resident of Ambala Cantonment who is said to be a follower of the monk.

The case was booked against Dadlani under several section including 153A (promoting enmity between classes), 295A (maliciously insulting the religion or religious beliefs of any class) and 509 (uttering any word or making any gesture to insult the modesty of a woman etc) of the IPC, police had said.

After being criticized regarding his remarks, Dadlani issued an apology and also deleted his tweet. He had also apologized to the Jain monk on Twitter.

Dadlani, who is a avid AAP supporter also announced that he would quitting all active political work on August 29. Even though his tweet come under heavy flak from members of AAP, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Dadlani maintains that it was his own decision to quit the party.
