Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) recently added services of catamaran yachts to the Hussain Sagar lake. Usually, a large mechanical boat ferries the tourists to the impressive statue of Buddha in the middle of the lake.

Tennis star and the state’s brand ambassador Sania Mirza inaugurated the catamaran yachts at Lumbini Park, adjacent to the lake. These yachts, imported from the US, accommodate 12-15 persons per trip. The boat rides take the tourists around the Tank Bund and the gigantic statue of Buddha installed in the middle of the lake.

The state government continues to take several steps to attract more tourists to Hyderabad and to the tourist spots in Telangana; introduction of the two new catamarans is one of them.

The yacht ride costs Rs 100 per person. Visitors to the lake can also hire boats for private parties for Rs 2,000 per hour between 8.30 pm and 12 am. The new yachts with low-seating arrangements allows one to touch the water while riding!

Adventurous enthusiasts can also hire Jet Ski speedboats and parasailing boats at the lake. The department has a fleet of 95 boats and it operates some at Hussain Sagar.
