2016 kicked off with the best of tech at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. More than 3,600 exhibitors unveiled the latest products on the largest show floor in CES history – spanning more than 2.4 million square feet. Keynotes from the leaders of Netflix, GM and IBM kicked off the 4 day event. Organized by the Consumer Technology Association, CES 2016 is the the world’s gathering place for tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and investors in the business of consumer technologies. These are the big buzzing launches so far:

802.11ah “HaLow”

802.11ah is a new Wi-Fi standard announced at CES 2016 that promises to double the reach of current Wi-Fi radios while also using even less power. This will be the standard of wireless that will create the smart home of the future.

The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

Although Tesla may be the biggest name in electric cars, General Motors is making a bid for that title with its 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV. The car boasts of an estimated 200 miles per charge and is affordably priced at $30,000 after state incentives.

LG’s rollable display

LG had our eyes popping with the 18-inch flexible display that can be rolled up like a newspaper. The 30R 18-inch display is part of the company’s OLED (organic light-emitting diode) arsenal but it’s clearly the one garnering most buzz.

Parrot’s Disco drone

One of the big drone devices was announced by manufacturer Parrot, which unveiled its new Disco drone. Unlike most drones on the market, the Disco is a full fixed-wing aircraft and it can fly at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour and can stay in the air for up to 45 minutes at a time which may lead to plenty of aerial YouTube videos.

This latest innovation from Samsung is a refrigerator that costs $5,000 but before that gives you sticker shock remember that the touchscreen and built-in stereo speakers let you connect with your Samsung smart TV and watch shows or listen to music. It also lets you shop for food directly from its touchscreen and order food from multiple retailers.

The EHang 184

Unmanned aerial drones are so 2015, this year a Chinese company called EHang unveiled the first aerial drone that’s large enough for a person to ride inside. The EHang 184 is loaded with sensors to avoid any potential dangers while in the air and the device can be controlled manually from inside using a simple tablet interface.

Smart Shoes

Zhor-Tech, a French tech firm, showcased big bright red sneakers, white self-lacing shoes and even women’s pumps to CES. What is cool about these smart shoes is that you can adjust the temperature of your shoe with an app and measure your steps more accurately than you could with a fitness tracker, and the shoes will be available  later in the year for $450.

Maker WowWee Robotics calls CHiP the “ultimate AI Robotic Dog.”CHiP has an AI-based personality that adapts as you interact with him, allowing him to recognize you, respond to you and even play fetch. You can teach him additional tricks using an app. CHiP will retail for $200 and is up for pre-sale online this week – so if you always wanted a pet but didn’t want to feed or clean up afterwards, this is the ideal pick for you.

Sensorwake

Sensorwake is a scent-based alarm clock that emits fragrances via small cartridges on top of the hi tech clock. If you don’t turn off the alarm and keep snoozing it does revert to an audible alarm to ensure that it does its job. And you can expect to be woken up to the smell of fresh coffee, croissants, mint and a dozen other flavours including the scent of money for the Wall Street types! It’s expected to be ready for shipping in June and retails for $109 with $10 for two replacement cartridges, that last for 30 uses.

Sleep Number It Bed

Sleep Number beds already offer the best sleep a mattress can offer with adjustable firmness for both sides of the bed. The new it bed adds a host of high-tech features like biometric sensors to measure your sleeping patterns (including heart rate and breathing) as well as a companion app that offers recommendations to get a better night’s rest (like ideal mattress firmness and room temperature).

Thermo, Withings’ Wi-Fi-enabled infra-red thermometer can measure temperature just by placing it on the patient’s forehead, pretty much like how you would check for a fever yourself. All you have to do is place the device over the forehead/ over the temporal artery to be precise and the reading appears in a few seconds. And all this without a smartphone app – for a cost of 100$
