Indians have often wondered whether US-based Tesla’s electric vehicles would ever make it to the Indian market. Well, the wait is finally over!

You can now book the soon-to-be launched Tesla Model-3 (a sedan) in advance with an initial deposit of 1000 USD.

Tesla on Thursday had announced that Model-3 would be available in 2017 at a starting price of $35,000 (which is roughly Rs 23 lakhs) in India and a bunch of other countries when the company opens online orders for select international markets.

However, the company manufactures its cars in the US. Thus the price of a Tesla Model-3 would be higher in India owing to the duties on imported cars which exceed 125 per cent.

Tesla had earlier announced its intent to increase the number of Tesla stores across the world from 215 to 441. India may soon see its own Tesla store should the company see potential in the Indian market.

In the US, people were seen camping in front of Tesla stores to book the new affordable model from the electric carmaker.
