The deadliest free-kick taker in Premier League’s history is not Beckham or Ronaldo. It’s Mata!

If someone asked you who the greatest free-kick taker the English Premier League has ever seen, the first few names that come to your mind would probably be David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry or even Wayne Rooney. However, EPL’s overall record points to an unlikely name—Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata.

Evidently, Juan Mata has a better conversion rate with free kicks than any of the names mentioned above. The Spaniard has found the net 5 times from 28 attempt in his EPL career so far, with a conversion rate of 17.9 percent, which puts him way ahead of the other competitors in this category.

In fact, Beckham is not even in the top three. A 9.3 per cent conversion rate puts him fourth on the list, with Thierry Henry positioned sixth with a conversion rate of 8.3. Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t even feature in the top ten.

Well, we all know that Mata is awesome, which is clear from this goal he scored before joining the Red Devils.

But is he better than the great Englishman?

Or CR7 himself?

Or a certain Frenchman?

Well, numbers often don’t tell the full story, but they never lie, either. So do you think the United no. 8 is a better at set pieces than Beckham, Ronaldo or Henry?
