The first glimpse of Better Call Saul’s second season is out and it’s driving everyone insane

Two photos. That’s all it took for the Better Call Saul mania to grip the world all over again.

With Breaking Bad and Mad Men already part of their repertoire, AMC has made quite a name for itself in terms of high-voltage, pulsating television dramas.

But even they wouldn’t have expected such an overwhelming reaction in anticipation of the second season of a spin-off, despite the critical praise and seven Emmy nominations for the first season.

American television does not have a long list of successful spin-offs to offer to be sure. But the fact that the same brains that created the iconic, original story of Walter White – Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould — are behind the new show seems to have made a huge difference.

On July 21, two photos from the upcoming second season of the Bob Odenkirk-starrer were released by the show’s producers.

The first one features Jimmy McGill (Yet to be Saul Goodman) nervously eyeing two suit-clad individuals.

The second one features Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould — the creators and executive producers of the show —  seemingly looking over the sets.

The reactions were overwhelming.

To add to the mania, Colors Infinity, who recently acquired the rights to broadcast the show in India, decided to choose the same day for the show’s premier. They even held a contest to create a buzz around the show, promising to give away free merchandise.

With so many Indians already going gaga over shows like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad in recent times, the overwhelming response to Saul just gave us a glimpse American television’s increasingly significant presence in the Indian market.

Season 2 of Better Call Saul will debut in early January. But thanks to Colors, that wait won’t be so painful after all.
