An innocent lip-lock scene between Nayanthara and a young boy in Thirunaal has sparked a controversy, with director Ramnath being accused of sexualising a young boy. The controversial scene from the film has been making rounds on social media in the form of memes and parody videos.

Reacting to the issue, the director says, “First of all, the scene is just a reflection of the kid’s innocent thoughts. It passed the censor board without being cut. Why don’t people see the good message in the climax rather than concentrating on a scene that was meant for fun? If Nayanthara had apprehensions while performing the scene, she wouldn’t have shot it at all!”

Ramnath also adds that he understands the mentality of children through his school-going daughter and her friends. “In recent times, there are a group of people who criticise anything and everything in a film. They blow up simple things out of proportion. We have stooped to the level that we can’t overlook a young boy kissing his teacher,” he rues.
