Kolkata based news daily The Telegraph which has recently been in news for its headlines, has once again cleared air over its anti-BJP stance by ridiculing union HRD minister Smriti Irani who on Wednesday countered the pro-JNU arguments with her stinging speech on nationalism.

The newspaper has recently taken a rabid anti-BJP stance following the death of dalit scholar Rohith vemula in Hyderabad. It had slammed prime minister Narendra modi for his late response to Rohith’s death and later took a jibe on BJP led NDA government for the attack of lawyers on JNU students in Patiala court in Delhi.

Smriti’s caustic speech in Parliament was in response to the Left parties and Congress which levelled accusations against the BJP government in relation with the recent developments in JNU Delhi. This time, the newspaper called her ‘Aunty National’, in an effort to mock at the politician turned television actor.

No matter what, the newspaper since then have been hearing music from social media users in Facebook and Twitter for its efforts to vilify the ruling party which, according to them have rightly launched crackdown on anti-national elements in JNU.
