The man, identified as Gajendra Singh from Rajasthan, reportedly hanged himself with a towel after climbing a tree near the Jantar Mantar, where top AAP leaders including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal were present.

The farmer was later rushed to the nearby Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital where doctors declared him dead.

According to reports, a suicide note recovered from the spot says that Gajendra was the son of a farmer from Rajasthan who lost his crop due to the unseasonal rain in March. The man also wrote his family’s contact number in the suicide note.

Following the incident, Arvind Kejriwal said, “We kept asking the police to bring him down. Police may not be in our control but at least there should be a semblance of humanity among them. I am rushing to the hospital with Manish Sisodia.”
