You thought they were just stray animals? Now they are part of celebrity families!

A golden retriever, St Bernard, Dalmatian, Labrador, are breeds of dogs that immediately make you go “awwweeee.” And what about that stray dog that’s standing close to you for just a loving pat?

Shoo it away, is probably what’s on your mind? You might change that very soon. A number of Indian celebrities, who are self-professed animal lovers have adopted stray animals. Here are some animals which have found a home and a loving one at that! Guess, whose?

Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu

The newly married Bollywood couple, believe “what matters is who you are inside.” For them keeping strays as the ultimate sign of those who are a step above! We agree to that and someone else did too.

Siblings Ekta and Tusshar Kapoor

The siblings and the entire family adore dogs. They have been adopting stray pups and abandoned dogs for years! In an interview to a national daily, he said, “Dogs are like children and deserve to be treated with affection and care. I think more people need to adopt strays and have them sterilised. It will curb an increase in the population of strays.”

Trisha Krishnan

This mutual love for stray dogs and animals does not have North-South barrier or what-so-ever.  The south-Indian beauty loves Cadbury, no it’s not the chocolate you are thinking, and it’s a stray pup that she rescued. In an interview with PETA, the actor, Trisha, shared her story, “I found him in Hyderabad while I was shooting for a film. He was wounded, couldn’t walk and was lying in the rain. After Cadbury received medical care, he spent every day with me on the set and soon came home. He is like the son I never had.” She has been very vocal on animal rights and even wrote strongly to the Mayor of Chennai on the administration’s plans of animal rights. You can read the letter here. Imran Khan

PETA’s stray dog adoption campaign poster staring Imran Khan and his dog, Tony, he says, “Tony changed my life.” Imran Khan is said to take his pet parenting role voraciously. Apart from the stray dog, he also owns 5 cats!

Kalki Koechlin

Kalki Koechlin has adopted a stray cat which she found in a street in Bandra. Opining on adoption, she says “Strays are Survivors, and when you adopt them, they thrive!”

John Abraham

Well many of us do know about John’s fetish for motorcycles and many don’t about his love for animals. He has a role model right at home. In an interview to an international daily, he says that his mother feeds about 200 stray dogs every day. Phew! That’s quite a task. A vegetarian, John Abraham has been vocal about animal rights and the need for adoption. Irked by the fact that elephants were being used to beg in the streets of Mumbai, he lobbied against it.

M S Dhoni

Now that the cricket fever is on, and if you claim to be a “Dhoni Fan.” We have a question for you? Who is Leah? You fail, if you don’t answer. Okay, M S Dhoni recently adopted a stray dog and welcomed her home. With this, the people of Ranchi want to emulate his act so much so that the animal care shelters have received numerous calls expressing interest to adopt strays. That’s definitely star power.
