11-year-old Apeksha Binoj of Thrissur, Kerala is reportedly the youngest fashion designer in the country. She started designing  clothes at the age of seven and has designed 105 unique designs till date.

Apeksha’s parents use to get a lot of complaints from school, because the girl was always making sketches in her books and not concentrating in classes. This is when her parents realised their daughter’s talent in costume designing.

“We talked to her and found out about her love for designing. One month before her seventh birthday, Apeksha came to me and asked whether she could design her own birthday dress. I agreed, and she sketched the design, which we all liked. That’s when she started designing,” said Apeksha’s mother Prasina.

The parents wanted to encourage their daughter and decided to enroll her into Mirna Elhage Fashion Institute in Dubai. The management was impressed with Apeksha’s vast collection of designs and agreed to admit her despite the age criteria. She has currently cleared the first level graduation examination.

Dubai based, Apeksha has entered URF National Records, World Records (India) and Assist World Records as the youngest fashion designer in the country.

The young designer who stays with her family in Dubai has high career aspirations in fashion.

“I want to take my masters in fashion from France and later a doctorate in the same,” said Apeksha. She is now preparing to do her own ramp show soon and wants to show her new designs under her brand, Apek.
