A thief who was masquerading as a newspaper seller got more than he expected for when he tried to steal a mobile phone from under the nose of a sunbathing Swedish policewoman.

According to reports, bikini clad and off-duty officer Mikaela Kellner was catching some rays in a Stockholm waterside public park on Wednesday, before she swung into action to catch a pickpocketer.

An Instagram picture of the officer in action went viral after she posted it to Instagram.

In the caption to the Instagram post titled “Beware of pickpockets,” Kellner explained how the robber had initially approached her and some friends, offering to sell them a newspaper for homeless people.

However, the man tried to slip one of their mobile phone while he pretended to put the newspaper stack down on the ground.

As soon as Kellner realized the man’s trickery, she chased and pinned him down.

“I did not hesitate. Had I been naked, I would have also intervened. It was a little funny that I grabbed him in a bikini,” Aftonbladet quoted Kellner.

The ‘bikini arrest’ picture has since garnered thousands of likes on social media.

“I am very happy that I posted the picture. The aim was to draw attention to how easy it is to be robbed,” she added.
