During a ISIS led attack on a Shiite shrine  – 70 km north off Baghdad last week – a brave heart named Najih Shaker Al-Baldawi hugged an ISIS suicide bomber and thus reducing the impact of the strike.

According to reports, had this brave man failed to stop the militant entering Sayyid Mohammed shrine located in Belad, then death toll would have been much higher than 37.

Najih hugged and physically stopped one of the suicide bombers from entering the shrine. However, it did not stop the terrorist from detonating the bomb which killed Najih instantly.

It is believed that his hug absorbed much of the intensity from the explosion, bringing down the death toll considerably.

The man has been hailed as a hero for his valiant move and his heroics have garnered a lot of praise on social media.

Before the suicide bombers entered the Sayyid Mohammed shrine was attacked by mortar rounds on last Thursday night.

The attack on the shrine in Belad came just days after the terror blast in Baghdad which killed 292 people. The blast was one of the most deadliest ones after US led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
