This IPS officer inspired 1.5 lakh people to donate their eyes with his song

It is a police officer’s duty to provide citizens with safety and security, while trying maintain law and order. Our country’s police force has many diligent officials who are committed to their duty. However , this officer is going beyond the call of duty and urging people to support a worthy cause.

Ake Ravi Krishna, an IPS officer working as the Superintendent of Police of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh’s Rayalseema region  has written and sung a song to encourage people to donate their eyes after death. His efforts have inspired over 1.5 lakh people to sign up for eye donation till now.

His video-song Kallanu daanam chey, nee choopunu daanam chey (donate your eyes, donate your vision), has gone viral on social media and is also being played at police stations, colleges and theatres.

“I regularly visit a school for the blind in Kurnool and developed a closeness with the children there. Seeing their plight and dearth of eye donations in the country, I thought of writing a song to spread awareness about eye donation. As singing is my hobby, I also sung it,” Ravi Krishna told The Telegraph.

Ravi Krishna is who would consider a hero. Before this initiative, he was responsible for transforming a village  where a lot of revenge murders and faction killings were happening. Ravi Krishna is adopted Kapatrala village and changed the fate of the villagers with his relentless efforts.
