This poweful video by an acid attack survivor is more than just a mere beauty tutorial

Over the last decade, India has witnessed a disquieting growth of acid attacks on women – with 310 cases reported in 2014 alone! According to studies, these acid attacks are largely a result of social weakness of women in a male-dominated society. Despite the Supreme Court’s ban on open sale of acid, easy availability of acid across the country has made perpetrators use this as an ideal weapon against women.

One such survivor is 18-year-old Reshma, who was attacked by her brother-in-law while she was on her way to a school exam. The horrifying acid attack led to the loss of her left eye, partial blindness in the right eye and stark burns on her face.

However, instead of letting the incident ruin her life, Reshma stood strong and took up the initiative to raise alertness regarding acid attacks. In this video, she not only hands out an essential beauty tip, but also urges people to fight against the open sale of acid.
