Tamil Nadu’s chief minister Jayalalithaa hired a helicopter to campaign extensively all over Tamil Nadu for the 16 May assembly election. Similarly, she had used a helicopter during the 2014 Lok Sabha election too.

Jayalalithaa, who launched her campaign on Saturday, decided to use the helicopter to ensure that she reaches her home in Chennai on the same day from rallies across the state. As part of the electioneering, the AIADMK chief was scheduled to address poll rallies in the Cuddalore on Monday.

She was scheduled to start from her Chennai residence in Poes Garden at 1 p. m. to reach INS Adyar airbase in the city from where she will take the chopper and land at a specially made helipad in Karuveppilaikurichi, Virudhachalam.

She will take up several campaign activities in Virudhachalam. She will campaign on behalf of her party’s 13 candidates in the area. “The rally will be over by 3.15 p. m. and Jayalalithaa will again take the chopper and return to her residence in Chennai,” sources said.

On Saturday, she addressed a mega rally at Island Grounds in Chennai to kick-start her campaign.
