UP govt officials buy snowplough for a perennially hot municipality!

Its not snowing in Shahjahanpur in UP, it never does. Forget snow, it does not even rain here. It’s perennial heat and still the government officials here thought a snowplough worth Rs 23 lakhs would come handy!

Disregarding the round-the-year arid weather, the officials of the municipal corporation placed one snowplough to its inventory. The municipality seriously believe that it should be always ready to face a doomsday crisis, such as snowing in Shahjahanpur!

The machine in question is JCB 170 snouplough used for clearing layers of snow and ice from roads. In normal cases this machine is used in mountainous regions where clearing snow and ice from the road. Snow-ploughing machines are a common scenes in polar countries such as Canada, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Iceland and Russia.

If you consider this ‘official’ epiphany as a highly guarded form of blatant corruption, well then you need to know what the executive engineer of Shahjahanpur municipality, Munendra Rathore thinks about it: “We don’t find it necessary to give out a reason for every purchase.”

He however ‘rightly’ clears-off the blame hands with a most brilliant justification: “We found this machine quite important for our city and we bought it. If someone has any problem, he can speak with the chairman because the demand came from him,” he was quoted by Times of India.
